A MESSAGE FROM CHARLOTTE D’AMBOISE & TERRANCE MANN
“We’ve got magic to do…” is the lyric we open our show, Pippin, with eight times a week on Broadway and also a phrase that makes us think of the special chemistry that is Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT). It’s a mixture of promising student talent, enthusiastic audiences and a beautiful region. It’s this chemistry that has brought us and our professional colleagues back to CRT again and again.
I have had joyful experiences working at CRT playing Professor Henry Higgins in the 2011 production of My Fair Lady with Charlotte choreographing. In the summer of 2012. I played Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha and directed The Pirates of Penzance. We bring our two daughters with us and, although it’s a busy schedule, Charlotte and I so enjoy the beautiful community in Storrs and especially enjoy performing for the incredibly supportive CRT audiences. We are writing today to ask you to help sustain CRT by making a donation to the Patron Fund.
We have been blessed with great professional opportunities, but we always look forward to summers in Storrs. We know CRT is a special place because our careers have taken us to theatres all over the world. We know that like all professional theatre companies, CRT relies on donations to continue to produce great theatre for Eastern Connecticut.
CRT is truly unique. As a professional company it produces great shows and as a training theatre it educates the artists of tomorrow. The synergy of intensive training and professional level performance is predicated on the loyal support of our community both as audience members and contributors to the Patron Fund. Donations to the Patron Fund are used to support CRT productions and to provide scholarships to drama students. Working with other great artists side by side with talented student artists is one of the things that makes CRT such a joyful experience as a performer and, hopefully, as an audience member.
Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to the Patron Fund by completing the CRT Donation Form and returning it, or by going online and selecting Connecticut Repertory Theatre – Patron Fund.
We hope to spend many summers performing for you in Storrs and hope you’ll play your part in sustaining great theatre at UConn and providing scholarships to promising drama students. “We’ve got magic to do…”
